The Journal, co-published by the Commission on Adult Basic Education (COABE) and ProLiteracy, is the only journal that focuses on adult learners working in basic education programs. Published three times a year, each issue contains both peer-reviewed research articles and columns by and for practitioners that address the needs of both instructors and program administrators. Among the many topics covered are distance learning and technology, reading and writing, English as a second language, health literacy, numeracy, effective instructional strategies, program improvement, historical research, and policy impact research.
