Contextualized Instruction
Contextualized instruction is built on the belief that students are most successful when they can see how new information applies to their everyday experience. It connects classroom learning with real life responsibilities and routines and uses familiar experiences to introduce new ones. By then end of this brief, introductory course, you will be able to

Strategies for Building Learning Communities
This course is focused on creating learning communities among adult students. Research has shown that learning communities can promote student's learning and problem solving, provide emotional support, and prompt students to broaden their perspectives. The course will highlight research that supports the use of learning communities and offer strategies for building a learning community in your classroom.
In this course you will
- describe what learning communities look like and why they are important
- articulate the stages of adult development and their role in creating a learning community
- gain understanding of how working in groups can help to create a learning community

Active Teaching and Learning
This course will enable you to promote active learning among your students. You will plan how to structure class activities and materials to help students become fully engaged and reflective about their own learning.
In this course you will
- define and identify active learning
- reflect on your own experience with active learning

- identify instructional strategies that might be appropriate for your setting
- conduct a self-assessment about using active learning strategies
