Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia was found dead at a private ranch in Texas Saturday. He was 79. Officials said he died of natural causes.
Scalia was one of the Supreme Court's most conservative members. He was a strong supporter of gun rights, the death penalty, and privacy rights. He voted often to allow states to make abortion against the law.
The Supreme Court is the highest court in the U.S. It is supposed to have nine justices. President Barack Obama said he plans to nominate someone to fill the open spot. Some Republicans say Obama should not do that. They say he should wait and let the next president find a new Supreme Court justice. Obama's term as president ends January 20, 2017.
