Road to Work is a three-book series aligned to the skills articulated in the College and Career Readiness Standards and elaborated on in the new English Language Proficiency Standards. Road to Work builds the English language and literacy skills and workplace content knowledge emphasized under WIOA Title II.
Written for the high-beginning to intermediate English language learner, twelve lessons in each book contain a 200-word work-themed story followed by a variety of skill-building activities.
Provides English language learners with the contextualized workforce information and language they need to succeed at getting and keeping a job. A story about a worker on the job and an informational reading on a work-related theme are featured in every unit. Units emphasize employability skills (literacy skills, soft skills, and academic skills). Activities include: citation of evidence, vocabulary building, summarizing, critical thinking, dialog, role play, problem solving, writing, and internet search.
Choosing a Job Path: Students assess and build their own skills while they explore career options.
